Description

Petunia Million Bells Lavender Vein is a remarkable hybrid with double, round, pale pink almost white flowers speckled with lavender blue. It forms a ground cover, covered with flowers from June to October.

The very floriferous Petunia Million Bells is interesting in pots and hanging baskets, its growth is more compact than traditional varieties and its stems are shorter, which allows for a more uniform flowering. It measures between 30 and 40cm (12 and 16in) in height and width. The flowers measure 5 to 6 cm (2in) in diameter. They are formed by a multitude of petals stacked on top of each other, arranged in a circle.

Petunia Million Bells Lavender Vein is resistant to drought and heat, appreciates sunny locations and has rapid and vigorous growth.

Supplied as growing plants measuring 4 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in 5 small plugs measuring 2.5cm (1in) in diameter and 4cm (2in) in height. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and are strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once the risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

You can plant Million Bells Lavender Vein Petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you wish to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (petunias tolerate a small late frost). In the meantime, you can grow them on in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Petunias will bloom from June to October. Plant your Million Bells Lavender Vein petunias in a sunny or partially shaded location, sheltered from the wind. They need light and humus-bearing, well-draining soil. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well but will need regular watering during hot summer temperatures. Petunias are sensitive to frost (minimum -1°C (30.2°F)). They are floriferous and fast-growing, hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and prolong flowering.
