Description

Floriferous shrubs, which have been created through successive and repeated cross-breeding, resulting in thousands of varieties. Only species and varieties with good hardiness are of use for the garden. In colder regions, the stumps will benefit from being protected with a layer of dead leaves after cutting back the foliage to 10 cm (3.9 in) above ground level.

The hardiest of all. Forms a dense bush of small dark green ovate leaves. The slender, pendulous flowers have red sepals and violet petals. We use it in shaded flower beds, in humus-rich and moist soil. During mild winters, the foliage persists, but we still trim it back slightly in spring to maintain its vigor.
