Description

Echinacea Tomato Soup is a perennial that produces large flowers measuring up to 12 cm (5in) in diameter from July to the first frost. These daisy-shaped flowers are tomato red with a reddish-orange centre.

The flowers of the echinacea are borne on sturdy stems. It is a very vigorous plant. At maturity, it reaches a height of 80 cm (32in) and a width of 60 cm (24in).

It can be found in perennial borders and provides incredible flowers for bouquets. This nectar-rich plant brings joy to birds and butterflies.

Planting and care

Echinacea Tomato Soup enjoys a sunny or slightly shaded exposure. Plant it in regular, moist and deep soil, preferably well-drained. It withstands climatic variations such as drought, heat and humidity, and accepts any type of soil. Echinaceas are greedy, so regularly add good fertilizer for them to thrive. Prune the stems when faded flower stems to promote more flowers. Tip: Protect it during the winter in the first year of cultivation.
