Description

Collection of garden orchids, 6 mixed blet orchids.

This collection consists of:

- x3 blet striata,

- x3 blet striata Alba

Small gems for lovers of original plants, blet are easy to live with in favorable conditions (humus-rich and fresh soil), making them suitable for experienced gardeners. They can be used in flower beds, fresh rockeries, undergrowth, or even in pots. In a woodland atmosphere or near a pond, they will accompany hostas, trilliums, Solomon's seals, and ferns. They adapt well to both humid climates and the warmer regions of our country, where regular watering is necessary. They will thrive in the shade of low bushes such as viburnum, boxwood, or abelias. These carefree plants will impress visitors who are convinced that growing an orchid is a professional affair!

Planting and care

The blétillas are the hardiest of orchids. They can withstand frost in well-drained, neutral or slightly acidic soil. Plant them in light compost, 5 to 7 cm (2 to 3in) deep, spaced 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8in) apart, in a bright location sheltered from the scorching sun. In the north, grow them in pots to protect from frost in winter. Cultivation in pots: Place 3 to 5 bulbs per 20 cm (8in) diameter pot, in a mixture of 1/3 compost, 1/3 sand, 1/3 garden soil. After flowering, remove the foliage and place the pots in a frost-free shelter until spring.

In warmer regions, this orchid will overwinter in the ground, covered with a protective mulch. Watering should be regular and consistent in dry summers.
