Description

Zantedeschia or Arum 'Solfatare' is a hybrid native to New Zealand with large lemon yellow flowers (spathes) measuring about ten cm. Its decorative green foliage is a solid colour.

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs from March to April, at a depth of 12cm (5in), spaced 15cm (6in) apart, preferably in a moist location. Apply organic fertilizer at planting, and then at least once a year. Cultivation in large pots is possible, ensuring regular watering to keep the soil moist, with fertilizer applied every 2 months during growth. Mulch them at the first signs of cold weather, as they are sensitive to winter moisture and severe frosts, and are moderately hardy in the north. In pots, store them away during winter. Over the course of a few years, they will form beautiful flowering clumps from June to August. You can cut back the foliage after the first frosts.
