These dahlias most often have large flowers, ample and are double, composed of numerous petals of varying widths and flatness, colored ligules arranged regularly in a spiral, which can be rolled up, bent towards the stem or curled for example. This very diverse category is subdivided into different sections, according to the size and shape of the flower, which can be giant as in 'Café au Lait' which exceeds 20cm (8in) in diameter, or smaller ones with very wide petals, with rounded ends, evoking camellias or water lilies. Decorative dahlias are prized in bouquets and are beautiful in beds, as well as in pots and planters for the more compact ones.
