Description

The Dahlia 'Priceless Pink' is a small variety of peony-flowered dahlia. The flowers are semi-double and round with bicoloured petals, bright pink and white, and they bloom from July to October.

This perennial has swollen tubercular roots. Gathered in bundles, these tubers produce upright, hollow, and branched stems, bearing compound leaves with rounded leaflet. Strong, fleshy 50cm (20in) tall stems are topped with rounded and clustered flowers, with white and pink ligules, measuring 6cm (2in) in diameter.

The Dahlia 'Priceless Pink' thrives in rich, clayey but healthy, well-worked soil in a warm and sunny location, sheltered from prevailing winds. It languishes in poor and sandy soils.

The Dahlia 'Priceless Pink' is used in mixed flower beds with other varieties or for making bouquets.

Tips: When planting, consider the dimensions for the composition of your flower beds.

Planting and care

The 'Priceless Pink' Dahlia is planted from mid-April to early May, at a depth of 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) and with a spacing of 60cm (24in). Always provide supports and tie the young stems loosely. Add slow-release compost or organic fertilizer during planting, and liquid fertilizer every month during the growing season. Water without wetting the foliage. There is no need to remove buds on this variety. Treat against aphids and slugs. Dig up the tubers before the frost, cutting the stems to 15cm (6in) from the stump. Store them in darkness in a cool and well-ventilated place, not too humid. Transplant them in early May when there is no longer any risk of frost.
