Planting and care

Prefers coastal areas. Plant in humus-rich, non-calcareous, moist but well-drained soil. Choose a semi-shaded location. Can be grown in a large pot that can be brought indoors to a frost-free room to protect over winter. Its evergreen foliage persists to about -8°C (17.6°F); beyond that, the leaves fall. Below about -12°C (10.4°F), the young plant dies.

Pruning after flowering maintains a compact habit.
