Description

Paeonia lactiflora White Wings is a superb variety of herbaceous plant with semi-double pure white flowers measuring 12 to 14 cm (5 to 6 in) in diameter that are so abundant that they can cover the entire plant.

Like the 'Nymphe' peony, it reveals a pretty little golden heart when the sun is out and then closes its delicate corollas when evening comes.

Planting and care

The best time to plant peonies is in the autumn. Plant them in the sun or in a clear exposure, spaced 60 cm (24 in) apart. They need space and fear competition from other species. Prepare a hole of 50 x 50 x 50 cm (20 in x 20 in x 20 in), mix organic fertiliser into your soil, partially refill, place your plants and cover with 6 cm (2 in) of soil above the buds. After planting, tamp down and water generously.

Our secret for bouquets: cut your peonies at sunrise when the buds start to colour and put them straight in water.
