Description

Echinacea purpurea Harvest Moon is a perennial that offers golden yellow flowers and a large orange heart from July to September. As they age, the flowers become pastel orange. They bring joy to birds, butterflies, and bees.

The deciduous foliage consists of large green leaves. At maturity, this medium-sized echinacea can reach a height of 60cm (24in). It is very hardy and originates from the United States.

The flowers can be used in the composition of bouquets, whether they are dry or fresh. You can cultivate this Echinacea in flower beds, borders, and as part of cottage-style gardens or meadow gardens mixed with grasses, where its rustic appearance works wonders.

It is a medicinal plant used in homeopathy.

Planting and care

Echinacea Harvest Moon enjoys a sunny or slightly shaded exposure. Plant it in deep and well-drained soil. It is a hardy plant that tolerates drought, heat, and humidity. It even adapts when it is close to the coast or on a slope, accepting a wide range of soils. Space the young plants 40cm (16in) apart when planting. The plant is demanding in terms of nutrients, so regularly add a good fertilizer for it to fully thrive. Cut back the stems when the flowers have withered to stimulate the next flowering. The plant doesn't like to be disturbed once planted and takes a while to establish itself.
