Planting and care

Grow in good compost. Sow the seeds in a greenhouse or cold frame in April-May, at a temperature of 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F). Cover with a 2cm (1in) layer of fine compost. The seeds germinate after 7 to 10 days. Transplant the young plants to the garden in May or June, spaced at least 80cm (32in) apart. You can also sow directly in the ground after the last frost. Harvest from mid-August to October.
