Basil – of the species Ocimum – is an annual herbaceous plant cultivated in the herb garden for its leaves. Just one of them in a dish, and it's a ray of sunshine before summer. A Basil plant on the kitchen windowsill is already an ode to Mediterranean cuisine or, depending on the variety, to Asian cuisine: Thai, Vietnamese, etc. The plants are transplanted in May or June to a warm and sunny spot. It does not tolerate drought. In a pot, transplantation can be done earlier. Basil is reputed to aid digestion and have hypoglycemic properties.

You'll love them!
