I had a bit of trouble getting it established because I bought it a bit late in the season. To this day, it looks very beautiful. I am eagerly awaiting the flowering. I recommend it.

Description

The Viburnum plicatum 'Mariesii' Great Star is a bush with very attractive foliage in autumn.

This bush is spreading with a flat-topped habit, with distinctly layered branches that can reach 2.50 m (8 ft) in height and 2 to 3 m (6 ft - 9 ft) in width. The foliage is deciduous, and the heart-shaped leaves are 5 to 10 cm (2 - 3.9 in) long, tapering, jagged, strongly veined, dark green, turning to red-purple in autumn. In April-May, flowers appear 1 to 3 cm (0.4 - 1.2 in) in diameter, sterile and white. Fruiting occurs in summer with red fruits.

The viburnum thrives well as a standalone plant in regular soil, in a sunny or semi-shaded location.

Planting and care

To grow the shrub successfully, plant it in a spot that gets partial shade or is sheltered from the sun. Avoid pruning it to maintain its spectacular flat-topped habit. During summer, water it regularly as it prefers light soil.v
