Planting and care

These plants are the result of various cross-breeding, mainly involving Helleborus orientalis and its subspecies. They have beautiful evergreen, dark green and glossy foliage which is best cut back to ground level at the end of winter, before the appearance of flowers and new leaves, to avoid black spot disease and reveal the flowers. They thrive in any moist soil, even clay, preferably without limestone. The flowering period varies greatly from one region to another from February to April.
