Slightly curled up upon arrival, the seedlings took only a few hours to straighten up; I'm waiting for the end of the nighttime frosts before planting them.

Description

The Achillea ptarmica 'The Pearl' is nicknamed 'Silver Button' for its abundant flowering of double white pompoms in summer. A finely cut leaf will accompany your large perennials in all circumstances.

The Achillea ptarmica 'The Pearl' is a perennial with a spreading habit. Its leaves arranged on trailing stems are dark green with lanceolate shape, finely cut and covered with white hairs. During the months of July to August, 'Silver Button' will develop a multitude of pure white double pompom flowers, at the top of 30 cm (12in) high stems.

It has a high cold hardiness (-20°C (1°F)). It is often attacked by aphids to the point that it is renowned in the organic garden to prevent or avoid other plants from being invaded by aphids. It is highly adaptable and can thrive in any type of soil, as long as it is well-drained.

Easy to grow, it likes sunny to semi-shady exposures and is ideal in simple gardens (or monk gardens), flower beds, flowering meadows or as a cut flower. It will blend in with scabious, irises or phlox.
