Description

This Summer Bouquet Mix is a kaleidoscope of colourful summer-flowering annual plants. Easy to grow in ordinary soil and requiring very little maintenance, they can be sown directly in place in spring, in well-prepared sunny soil. Wildflowers and florist flowers mingle in a large, colourful meadow-like display that can be brought in from the garden to the home in stunning natural arrangements. Sown in spring, they will flower all summer, and some of them will self-seed wherever they please.

This selection is composed of 19 varieties of annual flowers that will bloom from July to September. Among them are Zinnias with their single or double daisy-like flowers, the bright orange Marigold Calendula officinalis, the blue-toned Cornflower, the warm pink Malope trifida, a mix of Cosmos in different shades, the softer pink Lavatera trimestris, a mix of annual Cornflowers, the orange African Marigold Tagetes erecta, the Mexican Aster and Baby's Breath Gypsophila elegans with small white flowers. All these plants show fast growth and easily naturalise through self-seeding in the garden, in ordinary, well-drained soil. One packet of seeds covers approximately 3 square metres. The plants range in height from 60 cm (24in) to 1 m (3ft).

It has become very popular to plant wildflower meadows. This beautiful alternative to a lawn blooms throughout the entire summer season while requiring little maintenance. Perfect for adding a touch of elegance to a slightly wild and sunny area of the garden, whether in a flowerbed or meadow, this mix of multicoloured bouquet flowers can be sown in spring, in well-prepared soil. The flowers in this mix are often nectar-rich or honey-rich, providing a significant source of food for pollinating insects. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes alongside a path, or on the slope bordering a sunken path, or at the back of a garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in place from March to early June, once the soil has warmed up, in well-prepared soil, free from weeds and raked. Sow finely on the surface of the soil and lightly rake to cover the seeds. Alternatively, sow at a depth of 1.5 mm (0in) in furrows spaced 30 cm (12in) apart. Germination normally takes 14 to 21 days.

Cultivation:
When the young plants appear, water them well and remove weeds. In autumn, at the end of flowering and after collecting seeds, they can be sown again in place, after clearing the area. Water well to make the seeds adhere to the soil.
