Native to the humid tropical forests of Colombia, Philodendron erubescens thrives in the undergrowth, climbing trees with the help of its aerial roots. Sunlight is a prized horticultural selection, valued for its ornamental foliage. This climbing perennial has a moderate to fast growth rate. Trained on a support, it typically reaches a height of 1.30 m to 1.50 m, depending on growing conditions. Its sturdy, reddish stems produce heart-shaped leaves, measuring up to 40 cm in length. Young leaves emerge in coppery-red hues, maturing to a glossy dark green on the upper surface, with a coppery or purple underside. This plant is toxic if ingested, due to the presence of calcium oxalate, and may cause skin irritation.

Philodendron erubescens ‘Sunlight’ can be placed in a bright living room, conservatory, or office, where it adds an elegant tropical touch.
