Description

The Petunia Pretty Much Picasso, originating from South America, is remarkable for its astonishing flowers of pink bordered with green. It forms a veritable cascade of large single flowers from June to October. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, grown as an annual in our climates. It is a hybrid, and creeping.

This Petunia is very floriferous and of great interest in hanging baskets with its long densely fuzzy stems. It measures between 70 and 80cm (31.5 in) in height. The flowers are 5 to 6 cm (2 - 2.4 in) in diameter. They consist of five petals arranged in a circular pattern with a single flower per peduncle.

Resistant to drought and heat, they appreciate sunny sites as well as partial shade. The Petunia Pretty Much Picasso has rapid and vigorous growth. It has a slight fragrance.

Green plants measuring 4 to 8 cm (1.6 - 3.1 in) are sold in cases of 5 small plugs measuring 2.5cm (1 in) in diameter and 4 cm (1.6 in) in height. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and are strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Combine it with the Petunia Raspberry blast.

Please note that our young plants in mini-plugs are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, frame) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before planting outside once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your Pretty Much Picasso petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (surfinia petunias can tolerate a minor late frost). In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. These Petunias will bloom from June to October. Plant your Pretty Much Picasso petunias in a sun or partial shade, sheltered from the wind. They need a light and humus-rich soil, but above all it must be well-drained. Do not water them too much at the beginning of the growing season as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer periods. Petunias are sensitive to frost (minimum -1°C). Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for surfinias once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded blooms and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking good and prolong flowering.
