Description

This Sustainable Elves Flower Meadow Mix is a selection of low flowers designed to create a short and long-lasting flower bed. Easy to grow in regular soil and requiring very little maintenance, they can be sown directly in place, preferably in late summer or early spring, in a well-prepared soil. Very colourful in the first year, the meadow will flower from spring to the end of summer in the second year, and for several years, providing colour to the garden as well as a refuge for biodiversity. Some plants will self-seed wherever they please.

This selection consists of 29 species of perennial and annual plants. Annuals will bloom 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, while perennial plants, which live for several years, will bloom from the second spring onwards. All these plants show rather rapid growth and are easy to cultivate in regular soil. The height of the plants does not exceed 50 cm (19.7 in).

Partial composition:  Linum perenne, Achillea millefolium, Centaurea cyanus, Viola cornuta, etc.

Flower meadows are very trendy. This beautiful alternative to a lawn combines usefulness with pleasure, blooming throughout the entire season while requiring very little maintenance. Occasional watering is sufficient if the weather is very dry. Ideal for adding colour and life to a slightly wild and sunny area of the garden, either as a flower bed or a flower meadow, this mix also helps attract bees and beneficial insects that are useful for pest control. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes along a path, on a sloping bank, or at the back of the garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in place, in September-October or in March-April, in soil that has been well worked with a spade, cleared of weeds, refined and raked. Sow finely on the surface of the soil then lightly rake to cover the seeds. Optionally, pass over the roller to ensure good adhesion of the seeds to the soil. Germination normally takes 14 to 30 days. Regularly water with a fine rain to keep the soil slightly moist until germination.

Cultivation:

When the young plants appear, water well and remove weeds. Water regularly. Once well established, the plants rely on rainwater. In autumn, at the end of flowering, seeds can be collected and sown elsewhere. Water well to make the seeds adhere to the soil.
