Either did not flower at all, or was exchanged with a variety of bright red triumph, there is always a 25% error rate in tulip varieties from you, very disappointed... I will not order again. I had planned mixed beds with tulips of specific shapes and colours, non-compliant result last year for 25% of the tulips ordered and still the same this year. Ok, you refunded a portion, but it would be better to be vigilant and regular in your supplies because errors occur too often with tulips (and even crocuses).

Description

Triumph tulip 'Brown Sugar' is spectacular, with a mix of fantastic colours. Sweet and sugary like an exotic cocktail, this bicoloured tulip harmoniously blends coppery orange and muted red on its large corollas. The flowers of 'Brown Sugar' are very beautiful and subtly fragrant. They bloom in the middle of the tulip season, in April-May depending on the climate. Plant it in pots or near the house to fully enjoy its voluptuous flowers.

The 'Brown Sugar' Tulip is a fairly recent creation, dating back to 2009. It belongs to the Liliaceae family. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, whose main characteristic is flowers with a narrow cup shape. Perched on tall stems of 35-40 cm (14-16in) above the broadly lanceolate leaves, the single flowers are perfectly formed and richly coloured with caramel, apricot, and old rose shades. They have six "petals" (more precisely tepals) that pale to a creamy tone as they mature. They will flower in April-May, in the heart of the tulip season.

Triumph tulips are famous for their wealth of colours and robust and resistant flowers, which can be used in flower beds and bouquets. Tulips are unmatched for bringing the colours of spring to pots or sunny gardens. Remember to consider the height and flowering period when designing your flower beds, as these parameters can vary significantly from one cultivar to another. It is a good idea to plant a few more bulbs for beautiful cut flowers that last a long time in a vase. 'Brown Sugar' will be enhanced by flowers in deep violet or bright orange tones, which will bring out its warm shades.

Planting and care

Plant the bulbs in the autumn, from September to December, 15 cm (6in) deep and 10 cm (4in) apart in regular, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining soil. Never add manure or poorly decomposed compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. 'Brown Sugar' will thrive in soil which is moist to dry during summer, in a sunny or partially shaded location. Once flowering is complete, it is best to remove the seed heads to avoid exhausting the plant.
