Generous and romantic, hydrangeas have been a part of our gardens for decades. In neutral or slightly alkaline garden soil, the vast majority of Hydrangea macrophylla and H. serrata varieties will offer you flowers in shades of pink (if your soil is acidic, the flowers will be blue: see in this case the page on blue varieties, most of which are more beautiful in acidic soil).
While the most classic ones are the famous ball-shaped flower varieties, such as H. macrophylla 'Belle Seduction', 'Benelux', or the recent H. arborescens 'Invincibelle', you will also find here varieties that are less opulent but perhaps also lighter, such as H. macrophylla ''Twist and Shout' or H. serrata 'Cotton Candy', known as flat-headed.
All that's left is for you to choose!
