Description

Ceanothus thyrsiflorus Millerton Point is an evergreen bush that blooms in dense clusters of white flowers with a delicate honey scent.

Originating from North America and Mexico, this 2m (6ft 7in) tall bush is hardy down to -10°C (14°F), with a spreading habit and angular branches. It has leathery, glossy green leaves with prominent veins. From May to July, round 6cm (2.4in) diameter panicles of cream-white flowers bloom with a delicate honey scent.

Ceanothus thyrsiflorus Millerton Point thrives in light, well-drained soil with little limestone, in a sunny and warm location. It is recommended to plant it against a south-facing wall as it is sensitive to severe frost. Pruning is not necessary, but you can remove faded stems and lateral branches in March/April to promote flower bud formation.

The Ceanothus thyrsiflorus Millerton Point is suitable for slopes, borders, and mixed with yarrow or gauras.
