I am quite disappointed with the pruning of the young plants received and their condition, especially one of them. We'll see if they thrive!

Description

Salvia jamensis are bushes with an upright habit and early flowering that lasts from May to November.

We offer you a collection of three new varieties: 'Red Dream', 'Melen' and 'Pluenn'.

At maturity, they reach a height of 80cm (32in). The foliage of Salvia jamensis is semi-evergreen, with a dark green colour. The 3cm (1in) long leaves are thin and aromatic, which gives the plant a pleasant scent.

They can be grown in flower beds with grasses, as low hedges, in rock gardens, or in pots on balconies or terraces. You can even place the sage as a standalone plant. The sage can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F).

Planting and care

Place Salvia jamensis preferably in a sunny location. It tolerates morning shade. Plant it in ordinary soil as long as it is well-drained. This sage can withstand dry conditions and is highly drought-resistant once established. Mulch its base during harsh winters as it is sensitive to winter moisture. At planting, provide it with a base fertilizer (roasted horn or dehydrated blood). Water it regularly, ensuring the plant does not lack water. After heavy winter frosts in March, prune it by half, to 30-40cm (12 to 20in). Apply a complete fertilizer every spring.
