Description

Excellent shade-loving ground cover, Geranium macrorrhizum 'Czakor' is the plant that every enthusiast should have in their garden given how easy it is to grow in all regions and the invaluable services it provides for smothering weeds, both in shade and in full sun.

The running rhizome stump bears evergreen, villous and palmate leaves, strongly aromatic, of variable green, embellished with superb autumnal colourations, red or orange, which persist throughout the winter. The flowers, ultra bright, are violet, very intense.

Geranium macrorrhizum 'Czakor' grows very well in the shade at the foot of trees or on slopes, and naturalises rapidly. It is one of the few plants capable of competing with ivy in the undergrowth.

Planting and care

To install your Geranium macrorrhizum Czakor, work the ground over 20 cubic cm by crumbling the soil and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn in the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth.
