Planting and care

The perennial Geranium himalayense Derrick Cook should be planted from September to April in rich and well-drained soil, preferably in the sun. Leave spacing of 20cm (8in) in all directions. Weed carefully while waiting for the plant to occupy the space. Mulch in summer to keep the soil cool. Divide the clumps every 5 years after flowering to rejuvenate and propagate them. Cut back the faded stems to encourage a second flowering. Watch out for slugs!
