Received a young plant of 10-15cm (4-6in) in good condition with a beautiful spreading root ball. Clearly, they did not move until the following spring. 1 year after planting, they are approximately 1m (3ft) tall with a spreading of 50-60. The flowering was very pleasant.

Description

The Euphorbia palustris is a large herbaceous perennial that is easy to grow and adapts to any garden soil, including heavy and moist soils. As a generous border plant, its hardiness will be greatly appreciated.

Its large majestic and rounded clump carries, from mid-spring, floral heads in compound umbels composed of light yellow bracts at the top of upright stems, which can reach over 1m (3ft) in height. The foliage resembles that of willows, with a more pronounced central vein. The beautiful green color of the leaves during the growing season transitions to shades of orange and red in autumn. Its growth is rapid, and the flowers are borne by the most vigorous shoots that developed in the previous spring. Care should be taken during winter cleaning.

The Marsh Spurge is a completely hardy native species originating from Europe. It grows in marshy areas, along rivers, streams, or bodies of water. In your garden, combine it with plants that have similar requirements, such as primroses, summer snowflakes, or water irises, which contrast nicely with the yellow flowers. Plant it around a body of water and anywhere the soil is not too dry.

Euphorbia is a widespread and diverse genus found all over the world, including shrubs, annuals, and perennials, and some of them closely resemble cacti. Beware, the hollow stems of euphorbias contain latex, which can irritate sensitive skin and is dangerous if it comes into contact with the eyes.

Planting and care

Plant the Euphorbia palustris in a sunny location preferably, or alternatively in partial shade. It tolerates any type of soil as long as it is rich and not too dry. You can enrich the planting hole with humus and compost if your soil is too poor. When planting, consider its final size and space the young plants adequately (at least 50 cm (20in) apart).
