Description

Euphorbia myrsinites is a perennial with well-draining soil, featuring bluish-green ornamental foliage and flowers in a lovely range of lime-green and golden hues.

Euphorbia myrsinites forms a compact clump from which sprawling stems emerge, adorned with evergreen, succulent, bluish-green leaves. In late spring, beautiful lime-green flowers bloom and last until summer.

A perfect plant for dry soil, native to Corsica, this euphorbia thrives in sunny, well-draining soil and is sensitive to excessive water in winter. It is best planted in a rock garden or a scree garden, where it forms stunning combinations with grasses, particularly with Elymus magellanicus and Stipa tenuifolia and pennata.

Euphorbias are highly regarded for their foliage and are vigorous perennials that easily establish themselves in dry, rocky areas under full sun.

Planting and care

To plant your Euphorbia, prepare the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, and add a fertiliser such as bonemeal to the bottom of the planting hole. Position your young plant, after removing it from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. Euphorbia can easily establish themselves in dry soil and rocky terrain.
