Description

Grindelia integrifolia is a perennial American plant forming a robust and spectacular clump.

Its yellow flowers catch the light in a unique way. When the buds open, they are covered in an abundant and sticky nectar that forms a kind of varnish. When the flower is fully open, this "varnish" remains attached to the ligules and the thorny bracts beneath the flower, making this flowering shiny and silvery.

Similar to the previous species, but forming even larger clumps. The bluish-green leaves are larger, measuring 25 to 35cm (10 to 14in) long and 5 to 6cm (2in) wide. They are also more dentate. The flowers, measuring 6 to 7cm (2 to 3in) in diameter, have slightly wider and more spaced golden yellow petals. They also have a slightly darker centre, but still display the same brilliance.
