Description

Grindelia camporum is a perennial American plant forming a robust and spectacular clump.

Its yellow flowers catch the light in a unique way. When the buds open, they are covered in an abundant and sticky nectar that forms a kind of varnish. When the flower is fully open, this "varnish" remains attached to the ligules and the thorny bracts beneath the flower, making this flowering shiny and silvery.

Its vigorous stump forms a large bush with narrow leaves, 20 to 30cm (8 to 12in) long and 3 to 4cm (1 to 2in) wide. The glaucous green leaves display slightly spiny edges. The branched floral stems are sticky and bear small, sheathing, ovate and lanceolate, glaucous green leaves. The sticky flowers, 4cm (2in) in diameter, have very thin, shiny petals. They are golden-yellow with a dark yellow heart.
