Description

We offer you this selection Harmony of Tulips Spring Sweetness, it brings together 5 different varieties, with single or double flowers, combining ivory with white, pink, purple and violet tones. They all bloom at the same time, between mid-April and May depending on the climate. Plant the bulbs in perennial beds or large borders. You can also enjoy their flowers in a vase as they make good cut flowers.

This Collection consists of:

10 x Triumph 'White Marvel' Tulips: pure white flowering in April. Elegant and bright. Excellent in spring beds or as cut flowers. Height: 30 cm (12in)

10 x Darwin 'Ivory Floradale' Tulips: these award-winning tulips in England bear very large flowers in a delightful blend of ivory and light lemon yellow, sometimes streaked with small carmine red lines. At maturity, the almost entirely ivory corolla reveals a lemon yellow interior. Height: 50 cm (20in)

10 x Double 'Royal Acres' Tulips: fully double, dazzling, peony-like deep pink blooms with silky petals and a very pleasant fragrance. Their stems are quite short (35-40 cm (14-16in)) but very strong.

10 x Triumph 'Havran' Tulips: a sought-after variety for its dark violet, almost black, very rich colour and its excellent durability. This Tulip with a narrow corolla is carried by a thick and sturdy 45 cm (18in)-tall stem.

10 x Darwin 'Pink Impression' Tulips: these produce lovely deep pink flowers bordered with pale pink, at the end of 55 cm (22in)-tall stems, quite unaffected by bad weather. This variety has been awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society in England.

Packed and labelled separately.

The beautiful presence of these tulips, as well as their perfectly matching tones, will bring an essential touch of colour to the garden at a time of year when flowers are not so plentiful. For example, combine them with Forget-me-nots, Honesty (Lunaria annua), and Dame's rocket (Hesperis matronalis), as in Monet's garden in Giverny painting. Tulips benefit from being planted among other plants that will mask their absence once their flowering is over. They can also be grown in borders, rockeries, flowerbeds, as well as in pots and containers. If cut and placed in a vase, use very little water, just a little at the bottom is enough! Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase each day.

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs as soon as possible in well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant at a depth of 10 cm (4in) (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height in soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch each other. Choose a sunny exposure for best flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stalks and let the leaves dry completely before cutting them.
