Description

The Triumph Tulip 'Blackjack' is a spring bulb. It blooms right after the early tulips. In April, it produces beautiful deep purple flowers. The flowers measure 4 to 6cm (2in) in diameter and are perched on very sturdy stems that withstand bad weather.

Originating from the cross-breeding between early single tulips and late single tulips, the triumph tulip reaches a height of 40 to 60cm (16 to 24in) at maturity. Its green foliage is deciduous. It is a tulip that has excellent hardiness.

The Triumph Tulip 'Blackjack' fits perfectly in large flowerbeds and by combining it with other tulips, you can maximize the flowering duration of the flowerbeds. It can also be used for borders, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. This tulip enhances balconies and terraces beautifully. They are also lovely flowers for cutting. The Triumph Tulip is attractive to butterflies.

Planting and care

Place the 'Blackjack' Triumph tulips in a sunny or partially shaded spot from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in well-drained and deeply loosened soil, 15cm (6in) deep. Space the bulbs 10cm (4in) apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The care required is very easy. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the flower stalks after flowering. Allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
