Our Weigelas with foliage variegated in white or yellow are decorative both for their leaves and for their late spring flowering. In this category, you can find true hedge shrubs like Weigela Kosteriana Variegata, with ivory-white edged leaves and pink flowers, reaching a height of 2m (7ft). There are also medium-sized varieties such as 'Moulin Rouge (brigela), with cream-yellow bordered leaves and red flowers, or 'Milk and Honey' which has beautifully variegated leaves in yellow and bright green, and abundant white summer flowers. They are perfect for shrub borders. As for small gardens or container gardening, there are dwarf varieties like the superb Weigela florida Nana Variegata, with creamy-white variegation, turning orange in autumn, and covered in clusters of pink flowers throughout summer. Weigelias are deciduous bushes that are easy to grow and only require ordinary garden soil, soft and not too dry in summer, including limestone.
