A selection of red Butterfly Bushes, varieties of Buddleia whose summer flowering, often fragrant, displays shades of pink close to red or purplish red that can be seen from afar. Some cultivars are large bushes, stunning in a hedge - like the Royal Red Butterfly Bush, perhaps the "reddest" of all, with summer flowering of rare intensity in this colour range. Intermediate-sized varieties, reaching about 1.50 m (5ft) in all directions, fit more easily in a flowerbed or small-sized garden. There are cultivars like 'Rêve de Papillon Red', with large panicles of ruby red flowers with pink highlights, or Sugar Plum with spikes of a deep purple red. Of a more modest stature, Buddleia davidii 'Prince Charming' forms a 1.20 m (4ft) bush that is unique for its bright raspberry pink to cherry rose colour, almost without traces of violet. Ideal for container gardening, the dwarf buddleia Butterfly Candy Little Ruby is a small bush measuring 80 cm (32in) in all directions that offers magenta pink-red flowers with a honey fragrance for 4 to 5 months.

Butterfly Bushes, truly graceful and easy to grow, are used as standalone plants, grouped in flowerbeds, placed in hedges, or even grown in pots for the dwarf varieties. They offer beautiful diversity in terms of colours and foliage, allowing them to be combined with all the flowering shrubs in the garden.
