Rosa Eleganza Meine Rose

The Eleganza® Meine Rose ('KORethoro') Rose Bush is a stunning hybrid tea variety, with flowers that exude the romantic charm of old-fashioned roses. Very double, their pink colour intensifies towards the heart of the fully rounded corolla. They bloom from June to October against a backdrop of glossy dark green foliage that enhances their beauty. Easy to cultivate and disease-resistant, this rose bush forms a medium-sized, dense and highly ornamental plant in the garden, providing superbly scented bouquets for the home.

The Meine Rose Rose ("my rose" in German), with its old-fashioned rose appearance, is actually a very recent creation, introduced to the market in 2021 by Kordes Rosen. This rose has been awarded the prestigious German ADR label, which is one of the most demanding labels in the world. Varieties are evaluated under real conditions, without any chemical treatment for three years, and in various growing conditions. They are judged on their beauty, flowering, fragrance, colour, foliage, habit, hardiness, growth, and resistance to fungal diseases.
'Meine Rose' forms a bush approximately 1 metre (3 feet) tall and 60cm (24in) wide, covered with beautiful glossy dark green foliage. It is highly resistant to common diseases that affect many roses, with a 4/5 rating for powdery mildew (white fuzz on leaves and flower buds), rust (which forms spots in that colour on the leaves), and black spot disease. The very double flowers have numerous imbricate petals, forming a more or less elaborate central core. The core displays a vibrant pink, while the petals lighten as they move away from it, approaching a creamy white on the outer edges of the corolla. Measuring 8 to 10cm (3 to 4in) in diameter, the flowers are typically solitary at the end of the stems, making them ideal for creating magnificent bouquets with a spicy fragrance. This repeat-flowering variety offers superb blooming from June to October, and even longer depending on the weather.

This hybrid tea rose 'Meine Rose' combines the best of old-fashioned varieties, with its irresistibly charming rose shape and pleasant fragrance, and the advantages of modern selections, which guarantee remarkable disease resistance. You can plant it in groups of 3 or 5 plants, on a short grass meadow, or incorporate it into a diverse flower bed. Early spring-flowering perennials or low-growing shrubs will allow you to extend the flowering season. In non-calcareous soil, opt for Primula denticula 'Rubin', an exotic Primrose that will delight you with its astonishing ruby-red ball-shaped flowers from March to May, perched on a 30cm (12in) stem. In calcareous soil, choose Bergenia 'Eden's Dark Margin', an excellent ground cover that produces small pink flowers on dark purple foliage in April-May. Lagerstroemia indica 'Black Solitaire' with its almost black foliage will create an even stronger foliage contrast. Place it in the background and its airy white blooms will complement those of your rose, creating a magnificent scene.
