Thank you to the team (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received seems healthy. Planted in the ground, now I'm patiently waiting to see if it takes root... (or not?).

Description

The Donatella® Meikerira rose embodies the elegance and charm of old-fashioned roses while benefiting from the qualities of modern varieties. Its soft pink flowers boasting 62 petals, exude a powerful fragrance that will delight rose enthusiasts. Its vigorous growth and abundant flowering make this variety a top choice for gardens and romantic floral arrangements.

The Donatella® 'Meikerira' rose, also known as Maxima ROMANTICA®, is an exceptional variety that has won awards in numerous European competitions. Its accolades include gold medals in Baden-Baden, The Hague, and Rome, as well as the fragrance prize in Rœulx, France. This rose is part of the ROMANTICA® collection which brings together varieties that combine the charm of old-fashioned roses with the qualities of modern roses: abundant flowering, intense fragrance, and great resilience.

This vigorous shrub rose has an upright habit and reaches a height of 80 cm to 1.10 m with a spread of about 60 cm. Its stems are covered in thorns. Its foliage is dense, dark green, and glossy, offering excellent disease resistance. It is a deciduous foliage that falls in autumn before reappearing the following spring. Measuring 11-12 cm in diameter, the flowers consist of 62 petals in a soft pink hue. They exude a powerful fragrance with hints of May rose. The flowering is continuous, renewing itself from May to October in several successive waves of blooms.

Thanks to its robustness and beauty, the Donatella® rose will fit into a range of landscape designs, whether as a standalone specimen, in flowerbeds, or in a small rose hedge. It pairs perfectly with other ROMANTICA® varieties (Yves Piaget®, Leonardo da Vinci®, Abbaye de Cluny®) and pastel-toned perennials to create romantic displays. Its intoxicating fragrance and abundant flowering will be appreciated for creating scented cut flower arrangements.

Planting and care

To plant your Donatella rose, prepare the soil by digging a 30 cm cube, breaking up the earth well and adding a base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Place your plant after removing it from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil, then backfill and water thoroughly to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root establishment. Also consider feeding your rose with a special rose fertiliser to promote flowering. Choose a sunny spot, or partial shade in very hot regions.
