Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted near the 'Donatella' variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

Description

The English rose Queen of Sweden is a remarkable, narrow, upright bush that remains neat and fresh regardless of the climate and weather. It continuously blooms, producing large, double flowers in a tender pink candy shade.  From bud to full bloom, the flowers are beautiful at every stage. It has a rather erect but still bushy growth habit and proves to be very resistant to diseases. Its flowers are perfect for cut flowers.

This rose stands out for its upright but branching habit and its rapid and harmonious growth. It quickly forms a bush that is 1m (3ft) tall and 75cm (30in) wide. It is very versatile, adapting to rain, heat, and even blooming in the spring when it is gloomy and damp. Charming little orange buds will open into large roses with 41 petals, semi-open cups in apricot rose colour, which will slowly bloom into shallow, flared cups in candy pink shade. They are only slightly fragrant (myrrh), but that is their only weakness.

With a beautiful chic and refined form, the Queen of Sweden rose is a safe choice. It allows for beautiful combinations with annual or perennial plants, in a harmonious or contrasting style, in a garden with modern and minimalist inspiration or, alternatively, in a wilder garden. As companion plants, you can choose tall perennials (foxgloves, phlox, monkshood) or groundcovering ones (mullein, Cotoneaster dammeri), airy ones (gauras, gypsophila) or graphic ones (grasses), climbing plants (clematis, sweet peas) or trailing ones (purple morning glories, petunias), and thus create infinitely varied scenes and encourage biodiversity. Its flowers last for several days in bouquets, providing a very romantic touch to them.

Created by David Austin in 2004. A musk English rose.

Planting and care

Plant your English Rose Queen of Sweden in a sunny or lightly shaded location. English roses are tolerant but do not like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well-worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, prepare the soil by crumbling it and adding an amendment, such as bonemeal, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water abundantly after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root growth.

Pruning English roses is essential for flowering. At the end of winter, shorten the branches to 3-5 buds above the ground (at the lowest level), choosing an outward-facing bud for a more elegant habit. Take advantage of this pruning to remove dead wood and unsightly branches. Pruning is done at an angle above a bud. As the flowers bloom, remove faded flowers to stimulate the development of other buds.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly in late summer, but it is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
