Very pretty at first! But the heat got the better of it, even in partial shade... It would need to be planted really in the shade.

Description

The heucherella 'Stoplight' is remarkable for its yellow foliage (turning green during the season), marbled with rust?

For neutral to limestone soil, heucherellas are excellent groundcover plants for sun or shade. Resulting from cross-breeding between heucheras and tiarelles, they have the beautiful leaves of the former and the lovely flowering of the latter. In June and July, they develop very delicate light pink flower spikes, that look extraordinary as cut flowers.

An excellent groundcover, highly decorative when paired with hostas, brunneras, and lungworts, or as a complement to spring-flowering bulbs. Heucherellas can also be used in decorative pots for 9 out of 12 months.

Planting and care

Prepare a planting hole of 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in). If your soil is heavy, mix some compost with the crumbled soil, partially fill the hole and place your bucket (after removing the pot) so that the top of the plant's root ball is covered with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Adding a base fertilizer (dehydrated blood, horn powder) will nourish your plant during its rooting period without risk of burning. Firm the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate your plant's establishment. In late winter, heucheras renew their foliage. We recommend cutting back the previous year's leaves in January or February.
