Description

Echinops sphaerocephalus Arctic Glow is a tall perennial that forms clusters of spiky, ivory-white flowers, a rare colour in this genus.

Echinops comes from the ancient Greek word echinos, meaning hedgehog, a refererence to the plant's spiky flowers.

Arctic Glow Echinops forms large clumps 1m (3ft) to 1.20m (4ft) in height, with ample, greyish-green foliage. In early summer, the tall stems bear inflorescences at their tips, gathered in globular umbels, with single-flowered heads in a lovely ivory-white colour that is contrasted by black pistils.

A very hardy perennial, the Arctic Glow Echinops thrives in very sunny locations and grows in rich, moist, and well-drained soil. Pair it with bushes like Caryopteris, Vitex, or other tall perennials.
