I'm waiting to see for now, it's just a tiny plant, we're not there yet like in the picture.

Description

Filipendula purpurea, or purple meadowsweet, is a beautiful perennial with corymbs of bright fuchsia flowers above large, serrated leaves.

Originally from Japan, this rhizomatous upright perennial forms dense clumps that reach heights of 60-70cm (24-28in). It develops round, pinnate, toothed leaves that are 20cm (8in) long and dark green. In early summer, it bears majestic corymbs of bright fuchsia flowers, 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) in diameter. The flowering period lasts from June to July.

Filipendula purpurea grows well in rich, moist to wet soil, without limestone, in a sunny or partially shaded location. It is a low-maintenance plant and easy to grow once established.

It is ideal for planting alongside a pond or in a most wild garden with Persicaria and Joe Pye weeds, where it adds a touch of lightness.

Planting and care

Filipendula purpurea should be planted in autumn or spring in moist and rich soil in partial shade or a sunny location with moist and rich soil. It tolerates heavy soils very well. Be careful, as there is a risk of mildew in dry and poor soil. It can withstand temperatures as low as -18°C (-0.4°F) without any problems.
