Feeble young plant that already appears quite weary.

Description

Brunnera macrophylla or Great Forget-me-not, also known as Siberian Bugloss, is a perennial that grows in the forests of Eastern Europe and Northwestern Asia. It is grown for its delicate flowers that resemble forget-me-nots and its groundcover habit that forms a thick carpet of deciduous foliage. In March-April, magnificent blue flowers appear and are arranged in paniculate clusters (conical-shaped clusters) at least 20 cm (8in) long. At maturity, the Brunnera reaches a height of 40cm (16in).

Very hardy, up to -20°C (1°F),  Siberian Bugloss has a spring interest due to its medium green leaves (often irregularly variegated) which are lanceolate to ovate in shape. The heart-shaped leaves can measure up to 15cm (6in) long and have soft hairs. They are highly decorative in pots and in the garden.

Brunnera macrophylla 'Hadspen Cream' reaches a height of 30cm (12in) at maturity. Its foliage is tender green, irregularly variegated with cream along the leaf margins. It is a good border plant and is well-suited for wild gardens or fairly informal perennial beds. It pairs well with spring bulbs and perennials. Ideal when combined with tulips. Brunnera macrophylla 'Hadspen Cream' thrives in the coolness of partial shade.
