I am very satisfied, magnificent plants. I have two magnificent watermelons with very beautiful leaves. It's the first time I've grown them, very happy with the results!

Description

The 'Mini Love' F1 watermelon is a remarkable hybrid variety. It is an early mini watermelon that produces up to 6 adorable small fruits weighing between 1 and 3 kilos, which is the size of a large canteloupe melon; perfect for a family! Their striated, bright green skin encloses a delicious red flesh, almost seedless, crispy and sweet. 'Mini Love' is also known for its disease resistance and good storage properties.

The Watermelon is an annual vegetable plant with creeping stems. It is grown for its cylindrical fruits, with sweet and melting flesh that is consumed raw like other melons. It is a very refreshing fruit highly appreciated in hot regions. It is also used to make very good jams and sorbets. Watermelons have antiscorbutic, purifying and refreshing properties, and contain vitamins (A, B, C) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron).

The watermelon requires well-fertilised soil, a warm and sunny exposure, as well as regular watering.

Harvest: Watermelons are harvested when ripe: they lose their shiny colour and sound hollow when tapped.

Storage: They can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days once cut open.

Gardener's tip: Regular hoeing and weeding is recommended, and mulching is advised.

Planting and care

Planting:

First, grow the plug plants by transplanting them into trays or pots measuring 8 to 13 cm (3 to 5in) in diameter, filled with compost. Caution: When transplanting grafted plants, do not bury the graft point! Place the plants in a warm and bright location. Water regularly.

Planting in the ground should be done when the risk of frost is eliminated and the soil is sufficiently warmed up. Space the plants 1 m (3ft) apart in all directions. Dig a hole, place your plant with the graft point at ground level, without burying it, and cover with fine soil. Firmly press down and water to keep the soil moist.

Watermelon cultivation requires regular watering (about 2 times a week in summer, depending on the climate). Be careful, only water the base and not the leaves to prevent the development of mildew and powdery mildew. Regularly weed and hoe.
