Planting and care

Plant your bulbs as soon as you receive them, in autumn if possible. The winter cold helps them to root. Dig deep holes filled with 1/3 garden soil and 2/3 leaf compost. They should be under 10cm (4in) of soil. They tolerate sun and partial shade in humus-bearing and moist soil. Watch out for attacks from lily beetles in spring. This small, bright red beetle will hide under the leaves and their larvae will greedily devour them. Lilies are very suitable for pot cultivation. Plant 1 to 5 bulbs in a deep pot. Water a little and place your pots in a frost-free area. Bring them out in spring and enjoy their fragrance on your terrace!
