2 Months of Purple Tulips Collection

Create a purple harmony in your garden with the "Two Months of Purple Tulips" collection. This royal trio, composed of 'Purple Prince', 'Blue Diamond', and 'Crown of Negrita', will flower in your borders and beds for two months, from March to late May. Easy to grow, these bulbous plants thrive in full sun or partial shade, in any well-drained soil. Plant them in the autumn.

This collection consists of:

10 bulbs of Tulip 'Purple Prince': a single and early variety that reaches a height of 35 cm. Its intensely purple flowers open in March, bringing the first touches of colour to the garden.

10 bulbs of Tulip 'Blue Diamond': a double and late variety, flowering in April-May. Their voluminous and petal-filled flowers, with delicate purple and bluish reflections, reach a height of 45 cm and have a majestic presence.

10 bulbs of Triumph Tulip 'Crown of Negrita': it offers mid-season flowering in April. With their elegantly elongated purple flowers, these 40 cm tall tulips bring chromatic continuity and a variety of shapes, enriching the overall collection.

Plant these tulips in early autumn, ideally between September and November, for optimal root development before winter. Plan for 20 to 25 bulbs per m² for an impressive mass effect, or arrange them in small clumps of 9 to 15 bulbs for a more delicate effect. Space the bulbs 10 to 15 cm apart. Place the taller varieties, such as 'Crown of Negrita' and 'Blue Diamond', at the back of borders or in the centre of flower beds, while 'Purple Prince' will find its place at the edge or in pots.

To create a harmonious scene, pair these tulips with white daffodils, such as 'Thalia', with their small and bright flowers. The blue Forget-me-not 'Savoie Blue', placed at the edge, will form a fresh carpet, enhancing the tulip flowering. Also add pink tulips such as 'Pink Impression', whose bright pink flowers will provide a soft colour transition between the purples and violets. The Tulip 'Queen of the Night', with its almost black flowers, will accentuate the depth of shades in your borders. The Muscari armeniacum, with its blue clusters, will reinforce the chromatic harmony while adding a fragrant note. Plant 3 to 5 bulbs of these varieties in the background, allowing the purple tulips to take centre stage. Together, these flowers will create an unforgettable spring tableau.
