Description

Tulipa 'Ice Cream' is an exotic variety. In May, it boasts spectacular flowers composed of a central cone of white petals that are closely bound together, surrounded by pink petals tinged with green.

The flower resembles a scoop of vanilla ice cream placed on top of a scoop of strawberry ice cream. The flowers are perched on mid-height stems. The green foliage is deciduous.

The 'Ice Cream' variety can reach a height of 25cm (10in) at maturity. It is hardy. This tulip can be placed in flower beds, borders, pots, and containers. When cut, the unique flowers will form beautiful bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant the bulbs from October to December for a beautiful spring flowering. Plant in a sunny or partially shaded area. Plant the bulbs as soon as possible in light, fertile, and well-drained soil that has been deeply loosened. Plant the bulbs 15cm (6in) deep (bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs 10cm (4in) apart (making sure they do not touch) to create a mass effect. Cut the flower stalks after flowering. Allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
