Description

We present a Collection of 25 Double Narcissus, composed of:

10 Narcissus Acropolis

10 Narcissus Lemon Beauty

5 Narcissus Waltz

Labelled separately.

Narcissus are the most resistant bulbs planted in the autumn. They tolerate both full sun and partial shade. They prefer well-drained soil but also thrive in heavy soil.

For bouquets, we advise you not to mix narcissus with other flowers. Especially tulips, as the stems of narcissus contain a substance that causes other flowers to wilt quickly. This detrimental effect on other flower types can be mitigated by dipping the ends of the narcissus stems in hot water for 1 to 2 minutes.

Narcissus come back every year. Unlike perennial plants, it is unnecessary to fertilise them before flowering. Only cut the leaves when they have turned yellow and apply fertiliser: this is when the bulb regenerates and prepares the flowers for the following year.

Planting and care

Narcissus bloom from March to May and return every year. Very easy to grow, they thrive in both the shade of a woodland and a sunny flower bed. Plant them at a depth of 10 cm (4 in) and spaced 10 cm (4 in) apart. Group them in minimum clusters of 5 bulbs, in patches of uniform colours or mixed. You can plant them in a short grass meadow. In this case, lift the turf, dig and loosen the soil to a depth of at least 20 cm (8 in) (the height of a spade). Plant your bulbs, cover with soil and replace the turf. Choose a spot where you will not mow, as the narcissus leaves must be allowed to wither before cutting them. This is when the bulb regenerates and prepares the flowers for the following year. However, remember to remove the flowers as soon as they fade to prevent seed formation, as this would unnecessarily exhaust the bulb.
