The La Cordeline bio polymer string, made from corn starch, is 100% biodegradable. It is ideal for supporting delicate vegetable plants such as tomatoes. It is resistant to water, heat and UV rays, but decomposes when in contact with soil and moisture within 5 to 20 weeks. It is available in a 100g ball, to approximately 80m (262ft) of thread with a diameter of 2mm (0in).

This La Cordeline string is made from corn starch that has been polymerised by fermentation, meaning it has been assembled into long chains where the patterns repeat one after the other, forming strong fibres. This biopolymer is an excellent alternative to plastic as it is very flexible, resistant to water and sun damage, and is also biodegradable and compostable without leaving any residue in the environment. The string has a smooth, slightly shiny appearance and is white in colour. It can be used to tie the fleshy and delicate stems of tomato, eggplant, and pepper plants without causing damage. The ties can be left on the plants at the end of the season and added to the compost pile. It can also be used on the terrace or in the ornamental garden to tie up unruly vines or support heavy flowered plants. This bio polymer string made from corn starch can be easily cut with scissors, a sharp knife or a cutter.
