Description

Forsythia x intermedia Marée d'Or, also known as Paris Mimosa, Forsythia 'Courtasol', and Forsythia Gold Tide, is a small ground cover bush with golden yellow flowering in spring.

Like other forsythias, it provides a true spring spectacle from March to May by covering itself with numerous small, bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers. The flowering is followed by the appearance of deciduous, ovate and lanceolate foliage, carried by upright branches. It will naturally layer itself, making it a perfect ground cover reaching a height of about 80cm (31in) and spreading up to 1m (3ft) wide on mature subjects.

It is hardy and very easy to maintain. It has a slow growth rate and can thrive in any type of soil that does not retain too much winter moisture. Its small size is perfect for container cultivation. It is also ideal as a standalone plant, or planted in groups in flower beds, particularly with Abelia grandiflora, the Wig Tree, or with Mahonia or Lilac. It can also be used in flowered hedges as its branches are quite low. Its flowers can be cut. In early December, cut one or two branches and put them in a vase; they will bloom for Christmas.
