Not very pretty at all, I think maybe it's because of the May 8th holiday!! And that the young plants were left in cardboard all weekend in a warehouse!? I sent you an email with photos.

Description

Elaeagnus x ebbengei Gilt Edge, also known as Oleaster, is a bush forming a dense rounded tuft. From September to October, small silvery-white, highly fragrant flowers appear measuring 1 to 2 cm (0.4 to 0.8 in) in length.

The leaves are evergreen and leathery, 6 to 10 cm (2.4 to 3.9 in) long, dark green with metallic reflections on top and bordered with golden yellow. They are silver on the underside. The orange fruits offered by Elaeagnus x ebbengei are edible if they ripen well until the month of May.

This hardy cultivar can reach a height of 2 m (6 ft 7 in) when fully mature. It is an ideal bush for trimmed hedges, but also for informal hedges, shrub beds, isolated planting, or even in containers. It can be found by the seaside. Elaeagnus x ebbengei Gilt Edge is a cross-breeding between Elaeagnus pungens and Elaeagnus macrophylla.

Planting and care

Elaeagnus x ebbengei Gilt Edge thrives in full sun and partial shade. It tolerates drought and sea spray. When not in a coastal area, place it sheltered from the wind. Plant this bush from November to March, frost-free, in well-drained, light and poor soil, acidic to moderately alkaline. During planting, mix your garden soil with compost. Water generously once or twice a week to promote establishment. For hedging, trim in June and September and remove branches that compromise the plant's symmetry. Elaeagnus x ebbengei Gilt Edge is prone to coral disease and scale insects.
