Very beautiful rose bush, well protected like the rest of my order which has given me complete satisfaction. Thank you very much." Analysis of the translated text: - "rose bush" is a more accurate translation for "rosier" in this context, as it refers to a specific type of rose plant. - The use of "well protected" accurately conveys the meaning of "bien protégé". - "the rest of my order" is a more idiomatic expression in English to refer to the other items in the order. - "complete satisfaction" is a more idiomatic expression in English to convey the meaning of "entière satisfaction". - "Thank you very much" is a polite and appropriate closing statement.

Description

The 'Summer of Love' Rose Bush is a lovely new addition from Kordes that will delight fans of simple, robust, and radiant roses. Flowering and very healthy, this small bush with a dense and upright habit is adorned with beautiful dark green foliage that serves as a backdrop for radiant, almost single, bouquets of roses. The stunning colour combination of cherry red and golden yellow is truly striking. The flowering continues throughout the summer on this small bush that attracts bees and requires little maintenance. A spontaneous and lively rose bush, perfect for use in a flower bed, with small bushes or perennials. Its modest growth also makes it suitable for potted cultivation.

The Rosa x floribunda 'Summer of Love' is a variety introduced in 2017 by the German rose breeder Kordes. It is part of the "Nectar Garden" series, which includes varieties particularly rich in nectar and pollen, and is also ADR*-labelled. It is characterised by a bushy but upright, harmonious and well-branched habit. This bush reaches approximately 80 cm (32in) in height and 50 cm (20in) in width. Its thorny stems bear young shoots tinged with purple that unfold into dark green leaves, with strongly toothed leaflets and a slightly glossy appearance, with minimal susceptibility to diseases. Its flowering period is long, renewing in successive waves from May-June to October. The yellow and red buds open into well-opened cups, with 7 to 9 undulated petals, reaching 6-7 cm (2-3in) in diameter, arranged in terminal clusters. The flowers are distinctly bicoloured, yellow in the centre and cherry red-rose on the edges, centred on a beautiful bouquet of golden stamens. They are not fragrant.

Floribunda roses can be used to create beautiful small hedges, planted along the edge of the terrace or in borders with small shrubs. Combine them with abelias, Mexican oranges or caryopteris, for example. They are good companions for phlox paniculata and tall gypsophila. This variety, 'Summer of Love', will be enhanced when planted in groups of 3, forming an extremely bright bush. For example, it can be surrounded by catmints and perennial or shrubby salvias with blue, red or white flowers. It can also be paired with white ground-cover roses ('Swany', 'Marie Pavie'), chamomiles or light grasses such as Stipa (barbata, pennata, tenuifolia). This very hardy rose that requires little maintenance will thrive in full sun or partial shade. It will delight all gardeners, beginners or experienced.

*A.D.R. Label: This is a German label, with ADR standing for "Allgemeine Deutsche Rosenneuheitenprüfung," awarded each year to exceptional roses. They are judged on various criteria such as the beauty of the plant, its fragrance, its habit, the abundance of its flowering, its hardiness, and its resistance to diseases. The plants are tested in real-life conditions for 3 years, in 11 rose gardens throughout Germany, under different climates, and without any chemical treatments. This label is not awarded for life, as each plant is followed for many years and can be constantly reassessed.

Planting and care

Plant this floribunda rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
