Description

The 'Love Letter' Rose is a charming bouquet rose created by Lens Roses, a small and particularly floriferous bush that bears elegant roses, white, more or less tinged with yellow towards the centre. You can plant it as a border, in a bed of roses, or a lovely pot on the terrace. And its diaphanous roses, beautifully curved, are very pretty in floral compositions.

The 'Love Letter' Rose 'LENpiro' is a beautiful Belgian creation by Louis Lens, dating back to 1980, rewarded with a silver medal in Courtrai (Belgium) in 1979. It belongs to the category of floribunda roses; the flowers are grouped in corymbs at the ends of young shoots. This fast-growing variety quickly forms an upright bush. It will reach about 70 cm (28in) in height and 50-60 cm (20-24in) in width. Its thorny stems are adorned with foliage divided into fairly dark, healthy green leaflets. Its flowering is abundant from June to October-November until the first frosts. In very dry summers, flowering diminishes. Its slim and elegant flower buds, cream-coloured, open into double turbinate flowers. They retain this lovely shape long before blooming into more blurred corollas. The dominant colour of these roses is white, with the centre more or less yellow depending on the temperature. They are fragrance-free. The deciduous foliage is absent in winter.

Floribunda roses can be used to create beautiful small hedges, planted mixed along the terrace or in small shrub beds. The 'Love Letter' rose easily pairs with many perennial plants. For example, pair it with blue perennial geraniums, 'Sauce Hollandaise' false chamomiles, or even lady's mantles. The modest size and floriferousness of 'Love Letter' make it an interesting variety for container cultivation.

Planting and care

Plant the 'Love Letter' Rose from November to March in ordinary, well-worked, well-fertilised, and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clay soil that is rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, compact, or dry in summer, it is advisable to add topsoil, well-rotted manure, or compost to the substrate during planting. This rose will struggle to reflower in summer if the soil is too dry. Place it in a sunny location in hot climates, ideally in partial shade. Roses are nutrient-demanding plants, and a specific fertiliser application will be beneficial for the start of vegetation and regularly throughout the flowering period.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but it doesn't pose a problem for their development. These stains are not harmful to the rose but are natural.
